The Company

Location

Our quarry and stone working facilities are  situated on Yennadon Down, in Burrator  Parish, within the south western confines of Dartmoor National Park and the extensive Maristow Estate. This picturesque location is frequented by many walkers and horse riders.
We recognise the sensitivity of the environment in which we operate, and the expectations of visitors to the area, and work closely with the National Park to maintain standards applicable to this special and beautiful part of  West Devon.

History

Dartmoor Rustic Stone has been quarried and worked at Yennadon Quarry for over 70 years, since the 1930’s through several generations of the same family. We have been able, and continue to implement significant improvements to operations with major investment in plant, machinery & buildings. These developments combined with the traditional skills of local Devon quarrymen ensure a consistently high quality natural product.

Geology

Density:                   2800kg/m3
Water absorption:     n/e 0.2%
Maximum block size: 2400 x 600mm
Maximum slab size:  900 x 900mm

Health, Safety & Environment

The Health & Safety of our employees and of the public is of prime importance. A quarry can be a dangerous place and all our operatives are highly trained, ensuring that all risks are minimised and that operations are planned with safety foremost. We endeavour to investigate methods and new products in order to reduce waste material within the quarry and work closely with the National Park and other interested bodies to implement
environmental improvement measures.
